Sony Pictures Home Entertainment set the table for the upcoming studio release of the new Ghostbusters movie by giving fans the chance to buy the first two titles in the paranormal comedy franchise on new Ultra HD Blu-ray disc.
Sony said Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II will debut in time for Father’s Day on Ultra HD Blu-ray including High Dynamic Range (HDR) June 7th.
The 4K Ultra HD with HDR releases will also include the recent anniversary Blu-rays, featuring a wealth of bonus materials, including previously released legacy content, commentary and the interactive “Slimer Mode.”

Sony said both Ghostbusters 4K Ultra HD disc releases were fully restored from the 35mm original camera negatives in full 4K, preserving full detail and color depth inherent in the original film.
Sony said the HDR embellishment in the titles “produces brilliant highlights, vibrant colors and greater contrast on compatible displays.”
Additionally, both films have been remixed specifically for the home theater environment with Dolby Atmos object-based audio surround sound including overhead channels, SPHE said.
