The HDTV makers continue to experience lower than expected sales. The biggest tool in their arsenal is another price drop, and that is exactly what’s happening. HD Guru obtained an advanced copy of Best Buy’s weekly circular (August 7-13) and found a number of HDTVs are now at the lowest advertised prices of the year.

We chose the best deals. In almost every instance, Amazon’s pricing is lower (up to 47% off retail). If the Amazon price is higher on Saturday, it usually drops the next day when the Best Buy circular is released to the public.

Amazon direct offers free shipping on HDTVs.  Best Buy (BB) is now offering free delivery on HDTVs they sell for $899 and up (down from $999).  They just added  a “Best Buy 60 day price drop promise” where they will refund you the price difference in that time period for their TVs priced at $899 or higher, though you need to track Best Buy pricing to learn if it drops they will not notify you. BB also now offer a 30 day return policy on HDTVs  sold for over $899  with free pick up to their “Standard Local Delivery Area”. (We wonder if this offer will exist at Super Bowl time?)

While Best Buy will not price match Amazon direct prices, Amazon will match Best Buy through their low price guarantee on all TVs sold directly by them.  Note: prices are correct as of posting and may change at any time, please verify with our links; Most states do not collect sales tax on Amazon orders [with the exceptions of CO, KS, KY, NY, ND & WA].
