Find Our 2013 Labor Day Deals Here
Let’s face it, the US economy is still dragging and lower than expected TV sales are hurting the manufacturers. Labor Day sales give the set makers an opportunity to motivate potential new set buyers to make a purchase decision over the holiday week.
HD Guru studied next week’s Best Buy Labor Day circular as well as the deals on Amazon. While we found dozens and dozens of heavy discounts, we know folks are looking for more. So we dug around for hours to list HDTVs with the best of the best deals this week, drawing the line at a minimum discount of 33%. Below are over twenty 2011 models with discounts up to 49% off retail. Typically, retailers discount TVs 10%-28% when on sale, so these deals are really special.
We included a wide variety of screen sizes and features. In the 32-inch 60Hz LCD category we picked two sets, a TCL and a Samsung. The TCL is priced within five dollars of the lowest price we have seen anywhere for a set in this size. However, unlike every other set we’ve seen (name brand or no name) this one comes with a two-year factory warranty. Buy it on an American Express or the right Visa or MasterCard and add a year (link).
We also included one Samsung 32″. It is the only one not discounted at least 33%; however it is the first time we recall seeing a top name brand 32-inch at this price.
The biggest discount in terms of dollars saved are with the 40-inch and larger screen sizes. There are a number of 3D capable sets listed, as these have the highest retails and have not been moving as fast as the manufacturers are cranking them out. Readers should be aware that the 3D sets make the best 2D images, so even if you don’t desire the feature, you will get better performance at some incredible prices.
We particularly find the Panasonic plasma deals to be all time bests. The 50-inch TC-P50GT30 has is 43% off, it is THX certified (link) and Panasonic is throwing in 2 pair of its new lightweight (under 1 oz) active 3D glasses that have fast recharge and a copy of Avatar 3D Blu-ray.
