Global over-the-top (OTT) streaming TV revenue from movies and series episodes are forecast to grow by $81 billion to $235 billion in 2028, according to a study announced by Digital TV Research.
The report sees the OTT industry revenues rising by $17 billion this year alone, from $154 billion in 2022 the study finds.
The U.K.-based market research firm published last week its Global OTT TV and Video Forecasts report offering insights into the role of OTT services in 138 countries. It says that the top five countries for OTT streaming will represent two-thirds (66.6%) of the global OTT revenues by 2028, down from 73% last year as the rest of the world catches up.

The study predicts the U.S. will remain the dominant country for OTT streaming in the world throughout the period, with 41% of global revenue share in 2028, as revenues climb by $25 billion between 2022 and 2028 to $97 billion.
Breaking down the revenue from collective OTT streaming by type, Digital TV Research predicts advertising video-on-demand (AVOD) will grow faster than subscription video on demand (SVOD) offerings to $91 billion by 2028, up by $50 billion from $41 billion in 2022. If accurate, the growth will more than double that of SVOD over the same period.
