The X950H series adds to the X800H feature set Sony’s X-Wide Angle technology in the 85-, 75-, 65- and 55-inch screen size models. The only model that won’t support the X-Wide technology is the 49-inch model.

Changes were also made to the internal audio system, including the addition of a second amplifer, making it a bi-amped solution, and Piezo Electric sound positioning tweeters that are independently powered and controlled. They are also larger and farther out to the edge of the television for a wider sound stage. Additionally, the size and shape of the speakers were changed to be what Sony calls “X Balanced.” This is said to produce much better midrange response and punchier bass.

Also this year the X950 series models all allow for Accoustic Auto Calibration using a built-in mic in the remote control to pick up the sound of the room and automatically adjust settings for an optimal experience.

Available pricing on two models in the series are as follows:

85” Class (84.6” diagonal): $4,999.99 MSRP
• 49” Class (48.5” diagonal): $1,199.99 MSRP

Sony said pricing and availability for remaining X950H classes will be shared at a later date.
