Sony Electronics this week issued an over-the-air (OTA) firmware update for a trio of select Sony home theater audio products bringing more immersive gaming experiences and enhanced functionality when paired with a compatible gaming device.

The update will enable popular advanced gaming features including Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) for enhanced gaming that will be automatically engaged to deliver smooth gaming without frame tearing and other distractions.
• Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) supports more responsive gameplay by automatically switching to low latency mode in conjunction with the output of the video source. ALLM support enables ALLM compatible displays connected to the soundbar to automatically switch in and out of the fast-response Game preset.
• Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is a video transmission mode that can display images smoothly by adjusting the refresh rate to match the frame rate of the video source. VRR information will pass through the soundbar and allow the connected screen to change its frame rates in sync with a VRR compatible source, enabling smoother gameplay without stuttering delays or screen tearing.
