Sony revealed pricing and availability of its 2nd generation Ultra HD (4K) media player the FMP-X10 on Wednesday.

Like its predessor the FMP-X1 this Sony media player will download and play UHD content via its HDMI output connection, but only to Sony 4K (UHD) TVs.

Sony’s UHD library currently holds over over 200 titles of movies and TV episodes, the player can soon be able to stream 4K content over Netflix, which currently consists of Season 2 of House of Cards and some nature footage.

 

The latest UHD Movie titles from Sony’s Video Unlimited 4K feature films will include: American Hustle, Monuments Men The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Annie (2014) the last two will become available after their upcoming theatrical releases, Sony said.

The media player contains a 1 TB internal hard drive and it supports Sony’s Triluminous Color system that is featured within select Sony 4K UHDTVs.

The price of the FMP-X10 is $699 and will be available in July. However, if you own or plan to buy a Sony Ultra HDTV (4K) you may pre-order the Sony FMPX10 4K Ultra HD Media Player  from Amazon now until July 15 for $498.00 (use the link)  The player is also be available for pre-order at the remaining Sony Style stores.
