Sony launched Friday a new Envision TV AR (augmented reality) app developed to help consumers visualize how a Sony TV they might be interested in purchasing fits into their home.
Using the app on an AR-enabled smartphone or mobile device, users will be able to more accurately determine which TV size is right for their space.

“As we continue to stay home, this app offers a new way for our customers to confidently purchase a Sony TV in the comfort of their living rooms,” said Mike Fasulo, president and chief operating officer of Sony Electronics North America. “We hope this new technology takes out the guesswork of shopping online.”
The Envision TV AR app will help viewers see their room with an image of a particular TV model position virtually in a specific location, mounted on a wall or placed on a table or credenza on a stand. This presents details of the TV right down to the HDMI ports and othe inputs and let’s users explore the features of one of Sony’s latest models.
Interested iPhone/iPad users can download the app from Apple’s App Store or and Android smartphone/tablet owners can download it from Google Play by searching for “Envision TV AR” using any AR-enabled device. It is compatible with iPhone 6s or later running iOS 12 and above, as well as applicable Android Oreo smartphones or later. A full list of supported devices is available here.
From there, open the app, select a TV and point the phone’s camera at a location in the room to view the TV in any space.
