Sony Electronics recently launched a new mid-range addition to its soundbar lineup in the 3.1-channel HT-G700 soundbar, offering enhanced vocal clarity, powerful sound and Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object based surround sound support.

The overall sound of HT-G700 (available now at a $599.99 suggested retail) is designed for a more expansive experience using the company’s Vertical Surround Engine (VSE) technology and a center speaker, Sony said.

Other features in the Sony HT-G700 soundbar include: enveloping rich sound from Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and VSE. When paired with Sony’s signal processing, the three speakers generate an immersive acoustic experience.

Sony also includes its Immersive Audio Enhancement (IAE) technology that is developed to upscale 5.1- and 2-channel stereo audio sources to a virtual 7.1.2 sound experience, while Clearer Voice utilizes the center channel in the 3.1-channel system to ensure distinct vocal clarity at varying volume and speaking levels. The feature also enhances music to offer a detailed and intimate listening experience.

The company said the HT-G700 signal processing was improved to widen the sound stage to cover the home theater listening area, while the use of finely tuned S-Force PRO technology uplifts sound to fit larger TV screen heights (over 55 inches), to maintain the immersive overhead effects in supported sound tracks.
