Sony Adds HT-G700 Soundbar With Atmos, DTS:X
Sony Electronics recently launched a new mid-range addition to its soundbar lineup in the 3.1-channel HT-G700 soundbar, offering enhanced vocal clarity, powerful sound and Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object based surround sound support.
The overall sound of HT-G700 (available now at a $599.99 suggested retail) is designed for a more expansive experience using the company’s Vertical Surround Engine (VSE) technology and a center speaker, Sony said.
Other features in the Sony HT-G700 soundbar include: enveloping rich sound from Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and VSE. When paired with Sony’s signal processing, the three speakers generate an immersive acoustic experience.
Sony also includes its Immersive Audio Enhancement (IAE) technology that is developed to upscale 5.1- and 2-channel stereo audio sources to a virtual 7.1.2 sound experience, while Clearer Voice utilizes the center channel in the 3.1-channel system to ensure distinct vocal clarity at varying volume and speaking levels. The feature also enhances music to offer a detailed and intimate listening experience.
The company said the HT-G700 signal processing was improved to widen the sound stage to cover the home theater listening area, while the use of finely tuned S-Force PRO technology uplifts sound to fit larger TV screen heights (over 55 inches), to maintain the immersive overhead effects in supported sound tracks.
Deep Bass is provided with a powerful 400-watt wireless subwoofer to provide punch for sound effects along with deep rich bass sound in music selections.
For HDMI support the HT-G700, has 1 input and 1 HDMI ARC/eARC port. The new Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) feature is covered in the HDMI 2.1 spec as well as standard ARC for use with HDMI gaming consoles, UHD Blu-ray players or set-top boxes. EARC supports 4K/60P/YUV4:4:4; Dolby Vision HDR; HLG live HDR: HDCP 2.2; Bravia Sync; and HDMI CEC. The soundbar also supports wireless Bluetooth connectivity for flexible music streaming.
A digital optical connection is also included.
Users will also find a selection of sound modes and settings to find the best effect for the chosen content. The best mode can be chosen directly via a button on the remote control.
Cinema mode provides immersive, impactful sound effects while Music mode is designed to deliver music selections and soundtracks with enhanced detail. Voice mode then produces a tailored tone to accentuate speech against background effects while Night mode optimizes the sound balance to offer clearer sound, even at low volume levels.
