Skyworth Unveils 2022 NA TV Lineup With New 4K OLED, Mini-LED Models
Skyworth North America is using its suite at CES2022 to introduce new TV product lines for the year ahead, highlighted by the first transformable 4K OLED TVs that can shift between flat and curved screen configurations.
Heading into the new year, John Homlish, Skyworth North America senior VP, said the company will be stepping up its production and distribution game for the continent through the opening of a new TV assembly factory in Mexico. This is expected to decrease time to market and avoid shipping logistics issues like those experienced by the industry in 2021.
Skyworth is also elevating its brand awareness in the U.S. and Canada through digital and social media marketing, as it expands the number of retail accounts in the region.
The company is also stepping up its premium OLED TV game for the region with more advanced new models and feature benefits, and will leverage product technology educational efforts through partnerships with Google (Googe TV) and Dolby (Atmos and Dolby Vision IQ).
For 2022, Skyworth’s product line has been designed around three pillars including design, partnerships and smart platform.
In the domestic China market, Skyworth continues to advance the state of the art in OLED TV design. It is offering W81 and W81 Pro flat 4K “Wall Paper” design OLED TVs.
This year the company also highlights the new flagship W82 “transformable OLED TV” featuring a flexible OLED screen that can switch back and forth between a curved screen (1000R) form factor and a flat screen with the push of a button. The 4K OLED set has a 120Hz native refresh rate panel with 99% DCI-P3 wide color gamut coverage and high color accuracy measuring an average .098 Delta E error level, where anything below 3 is considered imperceptible to the eye.
It boasts a 10-bit panel with 1,000 nit peak brightness level, with support for Dobly Vision IQ/HDR10/HLG high dynamic range profiles. Sound support includes Dolby Atmos 2.1.
Skyworth China is also offering in its domestic market an S82 4K OLED series offering even more color accurate 0.86 Delta E average color performance, and 99.12% DCI-P3 coverage.
The Skyworth W82 also was a CES Innovation Award honoree as a gaming display, and received a design award from Red Dot. The set includes support for the HDMI 2.1 spec. at up to 48Gbps Ultra High Speed.
In North America, all of the new 2022 models will be based on the Google TV user interface that rides atop the Android TV 11 operating system, Homlish said. This will give customers a more user friendly and customizable home screen that provides personalized recommendations from a library of hundreds of streaming services and even live TV available through the Google TV platform.
Users will also have access to Google Assistant voice control for both the television and smart home devices through the television and access to GoogleCast content streaming from Android mobile devices.
For design, Skyworth once again is focused on delivering a near “borderless” screen in its OLED and LED-LCD TVs, providing up to a 98% visible panel ratio, the company said.
The company also continues its relationship with the Ultra HD Alliance, and will provide in select TVs Filmmaker Mode, that auto adjusts picture quality to the best intent of the content producer in the North American product lineup this year.
The 2022 models will also continue to leverage the processing power of the Skyworth Chameleon Extreme SoC to drive picture processing, upscaling and clear, colorful HDR and SDR images, with greater motion clarity for more immersive movie and gaming experiences.
In 4K OLED TVs for 2022, Skyworth is introducing its flagship XD9300 series that includes models in the 55- and 65-inch screen sizes. Both models include ATSC 3.0 “NextGenTV” tuners for the newest free and conditional access over-the-air local channel viewing; the aforementioned Google TV smart platform; hands-free Google Assistant voice control; Dolby Atmos; support for Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10 and HLG HDR and a native 120Hz refresh rate OLED panel with motion clarity processing.
The series is scheduled to hit retail shelves in mid Q3-2022 at prices to be announced later, Homlish said.
At the entry end of the Skyworth North America 4K OLED TV range will be the XD9100 series that also features 55- and 65-inch models with a “bezeless design” cosmetic. This series will also offer Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10 and HLG HDR; Google TV with hands-free Google Assistant voice control; Dolby Atmos decoding; but will step down to a 60Hz native refresh rate panel newly enhanced with Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation motion clarity processing.
The 2022 Skyworth LED-LCD TV lineup for North America will be expanded with a fourth model tier, adding a new flagship 4K UD8500 series including models in the 55- and 65-inch screen sizes. Both models will feature new full-array Mini-LED backlighting with local dimming and QLED (quantum dot) wide color enhancement technology. These sets are slated to reach stores in mid Q2-2022 and will include 120Hz native refresh rate LCD panels. As with the OLED models, the series includes Google TV with hands-free Google Assistant. Both sets also feature built-in ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV tuners, and Dolby Vision IQ in addition to HDR10 and HLG high dynamic range (HDR). The series ships to retailers in mid Q2-2022 at prices to be announced later.
The Skyworth 86-inch 4K 86UD7500 LED-LCD TV features a new 86-inch very large screen size packaged in a metal borderless cabinet design. It offers Google TV with Google Assistant voice control, Dolby Audio, a 120Hz refresh rate panel and support for HDR10 and HLG HDR profiles. It will be available in mid Q2-2022 at a price to be announced.
The 4K UD7300 LED-LCD TV line consists of the 50, 55, 65 and 75-inch screen sizes. These models offer wide color gamut coverage, Google TV platform, Dolby Audio, HDR10 and HLG HDR profile support, a borderless cosmetic design and a step down native 60Hz refresh rate panel. The line will ship to retailers in mid Q2-2022, at prices to be announced
The TD7300 series offers two LED-LCD TV models in the 32- and 42-inch screen sizes at HD and Full HD resolution levels, respectively. They have 60 Hz native refresh rate LCD panels, Dolby Audio and Google TV with Google Assistant voice control. They will ship to dealers at the start of Q3-2022.
The company continues to expand its dealer partners in Canada and United States, including among its customers, NATM dealers like Cowboy Maloney’s. In Canada the brand works with London Drug as a key chain among a long list of dealer partners and franchises.
