Skyworth North America is using its suite at CES2022 to introduce new TV product lines for the year ahead, highlighted by the first transformable 4K OLED TVs that can shift between flat and curved screen configurations.

Heading into the new year, John Homlish, Skyworth North America senior VP, said the company will be stepping up its production and distribution game for the continent through the opening of a new TV assembly factory in Mexico. This is expected to decrease time to market and avoid shipping logistics issues like those experienced by the industry in 2021.

Skyworth is also elevating its brand awareness in the U.S. and Canada through digital and social media marketing, as it expands the number of retail accounts in the region.

The company is also stepping up its premium OLED TV game for the region with more advanced new models and feature benefits, and will leverage product technology educational efforts through partnerships with Google (Googe TV) and Dolby (Atmos and Dolby Vision IQ).

For 2022, Skyworth’s product line has been designed around three pillars including design, partnerships and smart platform.

In the domestic China market, Skyworth continues to advance the state of the art in OLED TV design. It is offering W81 and W81 Pro flat 4K “Wall Paper” design OLED TVs.

This year the company also highlights the new flagship W82 “transformable OLED TV” featuring a flexible OLED screen that can switch back and forth between a curved screen (1000R) form factor and a flat screen with the push of a button. The 4K OLED set has a 120Hz native refresh rate panel with 99% DCI-P3 wide color gamut coverage and high color accuracy measuring an average .098 Delta E error level, where anything below 3 is considered imperceptible to the eye.

It boasts a 10-bit panel with 1,000 nit peak brightness level, with support for Dobly Vision IQ/HDR10/HLG high dynamic range profiles. Sound support includes Dolby Atmos 2.1.

Skyworth China is also offering in its domestic market an S82 4K OLED series offering even more color accurate 0.86 Delta E average color performance, and 99.12% DCI-P3 coverage.

The Skyworth W82 also was a CES Innovation Award honoree as a gaming display, and received a design award from Red Dot. The set includes support for the HDMI 2.1 spec. at up to 48Gbps Ultra High Speed.

In North America, all of the new 2022 models will be based on the Google TV user interface that rides atop the Android TV 11 operating system, Homlish said. This will give customers a more user friendly and customizable home screen that provides personalized recommendations from a library of hundreds of streaming services and even live TV available through the Google TV platform.

Users will also have access to Google Assistant voice control for both the television and smart home devices through the television and access to GoogleCast content streaming from Android mobile devices.

For design, Skyworth once again is focused on delivering a near “borderless” screen in its OLED and LED-LCD TVs, providing up to a 98% visible panel ratio, the company said.

The company also continues its relationship with the Ultra HD Alliance, and will provide in select TVs Filmmaker Mode, that auto adjusts picture quality to the best intent of the content producer in the North American product lineup this year.

The 2022 models will also continue to leverage the processing power of the Skyworth Chameleon Extreme SoC to drive picture processing, upscaling and clear, colorful HDR and SDR images, with greater motion clarity for more immersive movie and gaming experiences.
