Sigma Adds FP L 61MP Compact Full-Frame Camera
Equipment dealer B&H Photo announced Thursday a high-resolution version of the Sigma ultra-compact, full-frame fp mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, called the fp L.
The Sigma fp L will be available in mid-April for a $2499 suggested retail (body only), or $2999 for the camera and an optional attachable electronic viewfinder EVF-11 (which retails for $699 alone).
The camera steps up from the Sigma fp by adding a 61 Megapixel full-frame sensor, a hybrid autofocus system, true 24p video capture and USB power support.
The fp L will record video in up to UHD 4K 30p resolution internally and 12-bit Cinema DNG Raw images can be output to an external SSD. In addition, Raw video can be output over HDMI encoded as ProRes RAW or Blackmagic RAW, depending on the recorder attached. Full HD 1080p at up 120p video is supported by crop.
The Sigma fp L includes a 3.15-ince 2.1m-Dot Touchscreen LCD on the back. This can be supplemented with the optional electronic viewfinder, EVF-11, which attaches to the side of the camera and connects to camera-side-mounted USB and HDMI ports. The USB supports signal pass through but not the HDMI.
The upward tilting EVF is listed with 3.68 million dot resolution and a 0.83X magnification. The EVF adds a headphone jack that is otherwise not included on the main body of the camera.
The hybrid auto focus is based on phase- and contrast-detection.
The camera uses an electronic shutter and a 1/15 second flash sync speed.
The fp L measures 4.4 x 2.8 x 1.8 inches and weighs 13.2oz with battery and memory card.
