The Black Friday (BF) deals for these two giant retailers are now available. The Sears sale items are particularly interesting, as they feature more name brand HDTV models than Best Buy and include displays from Samsung Panasonic, LG and Sharp.
Regular readers will note Samsung introduced a Unilateral Pricing Policy earlier this year on its mid to high end models (link). Price drops of these TVs indicate the BF specials are factory sanctioned. This is very good news for folks that want to spend Thanksgiving with their families instead of waiting outside for a store to open.
According to our source, Samsung on-line dealers were offered the same deals on the regular line UPP models (primarily ES series). As a large number of Sears HDTV deals are under UPP, if Amazon or another dealer bought into the deal, they’ll are able to offer similar pricing on the sale date, and can be ordered from the comfort of your home. The exception: derivative models. These are a limited run of a series for specials on Black Friday usually with feature change or omission from the main line model. These product numbers don’t appear on the manufacturer’s website, so trying to find the actual difference between the drop-in model and the legacy line model is often a futile exercise.(we’ve stuck a “D” by the listing to let you know its not a regular model). Also, if there is no current price in the BF ad, it’s a dead giveaway that it’s a derivative. Fortunately, many of the Sears Samsung models are not derivatives, so check with on-line dealers as we approach Thanksgiving. Ditto for Panasonic and other major brands, an example: the 32-Inch TC-L32X5 is BF priced at $349.99 at Sears, however it is now $347.99 from Amazon direct.
We’ve placed Amazon links on many of the Sears and Wal-Mart sale models. Samsung Amazon are expected to begin as early as November 18th, others such as Panasonic TC-P50U50 have already begun, so keep checking Amazon for the price drops between now and Black Friday.
Sears BF deals have staggered kick-offs which begin on Thanksgiving Nov. 22nd at 8pm.
The hottest Sears prices include a no-name 32-Inch LCD for $97, a 39-Inch Seiki LCD for $199 and a 50-Inch Panasonic plasma for $299.
Wal-Mart’s deals are also staggered and begin at 10 pm on Thanksgiving night. Biggest deals are a 70-Inch Sharp LED LCD for $1798 and a 60-Inch Vizio LED LCD for $688. On to the list.
