Samsung on Monday officially released pricing and pre-order information on its 2021 Neo QLED 4K TVs in the QN85A and QN90A series and Neo QLED 8K TV series QN800A and QN900A.
Each of the new generation TV series, which were recently announced at virtual CES 2021, feature the company’s new “Neo QLED” Mini-LED backlighting technology with thousands of tiny LEDs and hundreds of dimming zones providing OLED-like black level and fine shadow detail via greater localized on-screen brightness control.
Samsung said Neo QLED increases the luminance scale to 12-bit with 4096 steps to make dark areas of a picture darker and bright areas brighter for a more precise HDR experience. Samsung uses a powerful Neo Quantum Processor with enhanced upscaling capabilities.
The system applies up to 16 different neural network models, each trained in AI upscaling and deep learning technology. Samsung said its Neo Quantum Processors will optimize picture quality to 4K and 8K output regardless of the input quality.
Those who elect to pre-order one of the new models via Samsung’s own direct-to-consumer retail web site will receive free professional TV mounting service, (a $120 value), the company said.
2021 Samsung 8K Neo QLED TV Series
The new Samsung Neo QLED 8K models feature new thin-bezel deigns, an AI video processor, called an 8K Neo Quantum Processor, new advanced surround sound speakers and sound enhancing technologies. The new models are equipped with HDMI 2.1 inputs supporting up to 4K/120Hz, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), eARC enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC), an ATSC 3.0 NextGenTV tuner, 360-degree camera support, Multi-View support, and the recently announced new HDR10+ Adaptive HDR profile that auto adjusts HDR brightness and contrast to changing picture parameters and room lighting conditions.
Sound features include: Object Tracking Sound (OTS) Pro dynamic sound that corresponds to the movement of objects on screen, and SpaceFit Sound that analyzes the installed TV’s physical environment and outputs immersive sound auto adjusted to characteristics of the room.
