If you’re looking for a good excuse to get Dad a big screen TV this year, this Father’s Day might a good opportunity, and Samsung is offering a range of top-performers at discount to help sway you.

Due to rising panel prices and shortages on micro processors, it’s going to be a tough year to find deep discounts on televisions this year, both from left-over 2020 model lines and event brand new 2021 versions.

Samsung is offering a smattering of some of its best 2021 models this week at a savings. These include its new Neo QLED 8K and 4K mini-LED TVs and its popular The Terrace outdoor TVs.

Neo QLED increases the luminance scale to 12-bit with 4096 steps and helps make dark areas darker and bright areas brighter. Samsung also uses a proprietary Neo Quantum Processor with enhanced upscaling capabilities. This employs up to 16 different neural network models, each trained in AI upscaling and deep learning technology to optimize picture quality to near 4K and 8K output regardless of the input quality.

2021 Samsung 8K Neo QLED TV Series

Samsung Neo QLED 8K models feature Samsung’s new mini-LED backlight technology with greater brightness control for peak localized brightness and nearly pure black reproduction with shadow detail. These models offer thin-bezel deigns, an AI video processor, called an 8K Neo Quantum Processor, new advanced surround sound speakers and sound enhancing technologies. The new models are equipped with HDMI 2.1 inputs supporting up to 4K/120Hz, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), eARC enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC), an ATSC 3.0 NextGenTV tuner, 360-degree camera support, Multi-View support, and the recently announced new HDR10+ Adaptive HDR profile that auto adjusts HDR brightness and contrast to changing picture parameters and room lighting conditions.

Samsung Terrace Outdoor TV Line

Samsung’s The Terrace 4K QLED Outdoor TV

Samsung is offering Father’s Day specials on its lineup of outdoor QLED TV models, called “The Terrace TVs”.

The Terrace outdoor TVs are available in the 55-, (original unilateral pricing policy, $3,499.99) 65- (original UPP $4,999.99) and 75-inch (original UPP $6,499.99) screen sizes.

The Terrace TVs enable simple DIY installation; The company is also adding a line of outdoor TVs for the professional market targeted at custom installation later this year.

The Terrace line can be easily installed and setup, offering included wall mounting brackets and wireless connections to signal sources to reduce the number of required cable connections. Samsung is also supporting The Terrace models with a dedicated outdoor soundbar, designed to connect to the displays via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

As true 4K QLED TVs, Samsung said The Terrace models will produce a wide color gamut using quantum dot technology. The peak brightness of these LED-LCD-based sets is tuned to achieve 2,000 nits to support high dynamic range (HDR) while deliver a picture bright enough to compete against bright sunlight.

For sports lovers, the sets will incorporate Samsung’s motion rate 240 (MR240) motion smoothing system (120 Hz native refresh rate). Other picture quality features include an adaptive picture technology that will automatically optimize images for the surrounding conditions.

All of The Terrace models also will incorporate the company’s Tizen-based Smart TV system to stream content using a home Wi-Fi network.

As with Samsung’s existing 4K QLED models, The Terrace smart TV platform will access hundreds of streaming service apps, including the most popular subscription and video on demand services. They will also feature the Samsung TV Plus section that aggregates more than 120 channels of a free linear TV video services for easy access.

For those who like to take their fitness activities outside, the smart TV platform offers new channels of health, fitness and wellness programming, launching in the U.S. next week.

In addition to supporting mobile viewing capabilities like Multi View and Tap View, the Terrace also supports multiple voice control platforms including Bixby, Amazon Alexa and the soon to launch Google Assistant.

The Terrace TV lineup is part of the previously announced 2020 “Lifestyle TV” line that includes design-centric model series including: The Frame TVs, The Serif TVs and The Sero TV.

At the same time, Samsung introduced a supporting outdoor soundbar, called The Terrace Soundbar LST70T. The Terrace Soundbar ($1,197.99 ) offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity to pair with the TV display and other devices. The Terrace Soundbar can be mounted to a wall, or directly to the Terrace TV, Samsung said. It has 3.1-channel output, 210 watts of power, support for Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround sound, a center channel and wide-range tweeter. It measures: 48.0 x 5.5 x 2.1 inches. Beyond Bluetooth and Wi-Fi it includes an optical digital audio input, but HDMI is not listed.

The soundbar is said to produce an immersive outdoor home theater experience without the need of reflective walls or ceilings. The Terrace TVs and soundbar also carry an IP55 rating to assure resistance and durability against the weather, water and dust.

The Terrace Soundbar is equipped with distortion cancelling technology for a clean, clear sound outdoors while delivering deep, clear bass from built-in woofers.
