Samsung has reduced pricing on a number of its 2022 premium TV models including select screen sizes of its Neo QLED 8K Series, 4K Neo QLED TVs and the 65-inch version of year’s highlighted new-generation Samsung “Quantum HDR OLED” TV.
We included feature highlights and links below to items you can grab this Memorial Day weekend if you act fast. We’ve listed the originally listed retail prices that you can use for reference to determine you savings from the latest available prices available by clicking the link.
The standouts of the group are the much-anticipated Samsung S95B “Quantum HDR OLED” TVs (pictured at top), which utilize a new hybrid quantum dot/OLED technology, based on Samsung Display’s self-emitting panels. These use a blue OLED light combined with Red and Green Quantum Dot “converters” to produce a high degree of DCI-P3 wide gamut color accuracy, high peak brightness level (for OLED technology) and 100% color volume.
The series also marks Samsung’s return to the OLED TV category after an aborted attempt using a pricey non-quantum-dot RGB-based OLED system a few years back.
Note that this is the same Samsung Display-manufactured panel used by Sony in its new flagship “QD-OLED” 4K TV series. The two TV lines differ in their implementation of smart TV systems, video processing, cosmetics and other factors.
Samsung is offering 4K HDR OLED TVs in two screen sizes available for pre-order now:
65-inches S85B Quantum HDR OLED ($2,999.99 suggested retail).
The company is also rolling out the second generation of its popular Neo QLED Mini-LED based full-array with local dimming LED-LCD TVs in both 8K and 4K resolution flavors. The technology offers thousands of tiny LEDs capable of producing images with greater zone lighting control for deeper black and brighter peak highlights especially in High Dynamic Range (HDR) content. Wide color gamut and 100% color volume are presented with the help of quantum dot color enhancement film.
Most of Samsung’s 4K and 8K TVs for 2022 support high dynamic range (HDR) profiles including HDR10, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) and HDR10+ Adapative.
All models also feature Samsung’s advanced and updated Tizen v.7 OS platform with enhanced personalization and expanded smart features. This also includes the Ultra HD Alliance’s Filmmaker Mode bringing auto picture settings optimization for film-based content. The OS provides voice control support from the Bixby, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant platforms.
The new Tizen OS also adds new levels of work-at-home functionality including teleconferencing and DEX support.
The New QLED system leverages quantum dot color enhancement with 100% color volume capability for highly bright and accurate wide color gamut presentation.
2022 NEO QLED 8K Models
At the top of the Neo-QLED class are Samsung’s 2022 8K Neo QLED models available in the flagship QN900B (available March 21st), series and QN800B (the latter is available for pre-order now) series.
The Neo QLED 8K series include powerful and advanced Neural Quantum Processor 8K offer what the company calls its most lifelike pictures to date. The technology is designed to upscale sub-8K resolution content for a near native 8K viewing experience, through the use of advanced machine learning AI.
In addition, Samsung’s 8K ecosystem now allows set owners to pair their new Samsung Galaxy S22 smartphones to playback homegrown content captured in native 8K resolution.
The new 8K editions use the second-generation of Samsung Mini-LEDs backlighting using thousands of Mini-LEDs that are 1/40th the size of traditional LCD LEDs. This results in greater LED zone density, for improved contrast when drive by the Neural Quantum Processor 8K. Some models also offer new 14-bit processing, 144Hz refresh rates with up to 4K/144Hz (in the QN900B models), and anti-reflective layer to reduce on-screen glare.
The sets add new gaming functions including support of a Game Bar Mode that allows on-the-fly picture setting adjustments while gaming and support of a new HDR10+ Gaming profile for video games with dynamic HDR.
