In a bit of convenient timing during the COVID-19 crisis, Samsung announced this morning that the new channels planned to be added to the Samsung Heath app on 2020 Samsung smart TVs this summer, are available now as individual fitness apps on 2018 and 2019 Samsung smart TVs.
Samsung said today that that three of these fitness apps are available on 2018 Samsung TV models while all six of them appear on 2019 versions.
Samsung said it made the announcement out of interest in helping folks in quarantine who might benefit from one or more of the apps right now — as they try to build their immune systems to fight the contagion.
Samsung said its Smart TVs in a variety of regions around the world will have access to the six new health and wellness apps in partnership with leading fitness brands including: barre3, Calm, Echelon, Fitplan, Jillian Michaels Fitness and obé Fitness.
Later this year, these apps will be part of Samsung Health, a comprehensive fitness platform for Samsung Smart TVs announced at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show.
Samsung said it decided to release the apps early on existing compatible TV sets to get them into the hands of homebound consumers needing fitness solutions right now. Samsung and its partners are providing access to over 5,000 hours of free at-home wellness content in the process.
“As our community grapples with unprecedented disruptions to their daily routines, it is important for homebound consumers to have access to free high-quality health and wellness offerings,” stated Salek Brodsky, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development for Samsung Electronics. “Our partnership with these premium brands redefines the boundaries of what free streaming services can provide, and we look forward to enhancing these offerings by bringing a full Samsung Health experience to our TVs later this year.”
Samsung said more than 250 instructive videos are available now from barre classes and guided meditations, to celebrity-led personal training sessions. The described “premium health and wellness apps” will be fully integrated into Samsung Health, which will launch soon on 2020 Samsung Smart TVs, and will expand upon the suite of apps available today, Samsung said.
Samsung Health will provide consumers with more alternatives to traditional exercise options, like gyms and group classes, and adapt to each consumer’s unique schedule.
