Pandemic sheltering consumers looking for something more to stream for free got some good news from Roku this week.

The streaming media player resource, said it has added more than 30 live linear TV channels to its Live TV Channel Guide posted inside The Roku Channel app on Roku devices along with a bunch of new movies and TV programs, many of which are ad-supported and available to stream for free to Roku device and Roku TV owners.

Roku also said it has added a new tile for its “Live TV Channel Guide” in The Roku Channel app.

Among the new additions to the Live TV Channel Guide available now are the following channel-surfing enhancements:

• Subscribers to Premium Subscriptions (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz and EPIX) on The Roku Channel, will be able to see any live/linear content from those subscriptions directly on the guide.

• Roku TV users with connected over-the-air TV antennas, will be able view broadcast content alongside OTT programming.

Roku said the Live TV Channel Guide now provides more than 100 free linear channels spanning genres including news, sports, kids and family, lifestyle, Spanish language entertainment and more, all arranged in an easy-to-navigate user interface.
