
The Disney+ premium streaming service has hit on another winner with the original TV series premiere of Loki, which was registered the most watched first episode of the season by an OTT TV series this year, according to data gathered by streaming service aggregator Reelgood.
“The team at Reelgood found that Loki‘s first episode was by far the most-watched series premiere this quarter among 2 million U.S. users in an analysis of Q2 2021’s top 10 TV show opening weekend performances,” according to a statement from Reelgood.

Reelgood is a streaming app that allows users to aggregate their streaming services in one place. Its offerings include Amazon Prime, FX, HBO, Hulu, Netflix, Showtime and Starz. The service offers features including the ability to track TV episodes and tell viewers when the next new episode will be available to stream.
Other streaming TV series garnering strong results for recent season premieres included Hulu’s fourth season premiere of A Handmaid’s Tale (4.5% share) and Netflix’s premiere episode of Sweet Tooth (4.2% share).
According viewer tracking data, Loki’s opening weekend shares of streaming and engagement via Reelgood also boxed out another Disney+ series premiere of WandaVision (9.3%) from last January as well as the Disney+ mini series premiere of, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which registered a 6% share in March, the firm said.
Reelgood said Netflix’s recently released Sweet Tooth, which enjoyed strong trending numbers on social media following a creative ad placement in USA Today, holds the No. 3 spot at 4.2% with a strong first-weekend performance, Reelgood said.
