Roku, the smart TV streaming media solutions provider, officially revealed Wednesday that it is rebranding content from its acquisition of Quibi as “Roku Originals” to be offered through The Roku Channel on various streaming platforms and devices including all of those running the Roku OS.

Roku Originals will also be the brand name for future original programming for The Roku Channel, the company said. The Roku Channel is positioned for cord cutters as an app offering aggregated ad-supported TV programs and movies subscription free along side various subscription-based premium TV services offered by Roku as a one-stop-shop billing solution for its customers.

Roku said Roku Originals will continue the practice of offering free, ad-supported entertainment for viewers in the U.S., the U.K. and Canada. The company said it will be announcing additional details on the launch of Roku Originals next month.

Roku said Roku Originals will specialize in both scripted and unscripted entertainment programming and documentaries.

“Roku Originals will give viewers free access to bold, fresh entertainment from the biggest names in Hollywood. Viewers can enjoy relevant, diverse entertainment that is accessible to everyone, everywhere The Roku Channel is available,” the company said.
