Polk Unveils MagniFi Mini AX Compact Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Soundbar System
Sound United’s Polk Audio brand unveiled Tuesday its MagniFi Mini AX ultra-compact soundbar with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound support.
The Polk MagniFi Mini AX is available from authorize Polk dealers starting today for a $499 suggested retail price.
Key features of the soundbar include: built-in decoding for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object-oriented surround sound, Wi-Fi streaming bringing access to thousands of songs via Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Spotify Connect or by connecting a mobile device via Bluetooth.
The compact MagniFi Mini AX was designed to deliver big sound out of the tiny 14.5-inch enclosure via a powerful included wireless subwoofer that Polk said delivers rich, deep impactful bass sound effects.
The unit includes an advanced 5-speaker array and down-firing
subwoofer. The Magnifi Mini AX also provides detail high-end and an expansive 3D soundstage.
Users can add-on a full multi-channel surround sound setup by adding rear-channels using a pair of optional Polk SR2 wireless speakers ($199 a set).
“With MagniFi Mini AX we set out to create the world’s best sounding, ultra-compact Dolby Atmos sound bar,” said Frank Sterns, Polk Audio president. “By integrating the immersive surround capabilities of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X and then optimizing it with Polk’s patented SDA technology, we’ve created a product that’s not only as enveloping as a sound bar three times its size, but with a level of sound stage accuracy that’s unmatched in its class.”
The Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound presents a wide cinematic surround sound experience to fill most rooms. Polk said it includes in the soundbar its own patented fourth generation integrated SDA technology to make an even wider, more accurate sound stage than provided by Dolby Atmos or DTS:X alone.
In addition, for more realistic 2-channel soundtracks and stereo music, 3D Audio Mode is added to upmix the audio to 360-degree virtual surround sound including virtual height channels.
For musical presentation, the MagniFi Mini AX is designed to easily stream music from a mobile phone, tablet, or computer over a network with Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, and Spotify Connect. MagniFI Mini AX can also easily connect to mobile devices via Bluetooth to access personal song libraries.
For movie soundtracks and live TV broadcasts, the MagniFi Mini AX is designed to present clear, understandable dialog for news, sports, games, and other content.
Polk includes its patented VoiceAdjust speech-clarifying technology that works synergistically with the soundbar’s dedicated center channel driver to let users increase the level of voices as needed without affecting the rest of the soundtrack.
The supplied wireless down-firing subwoofer is designed to easily connect with the MagniFi system automatically and can be placed anywhere up to 30-feet away. The subwoofer output can be tailored to user preferences using the BassAdjust feature.
This optimizes the blending of low frequencies between the soundbar and subwoofer.
Movie and music modes tailor the soundbar’s performance to your content, and Night Mode simultaneously increases the dialog and decreases bass for late-night watching, without disturbing
sleeping family members or neighbors.
The MagniFi Mini AX includes a range of connection options including an HDMI eARC/ARC port (HDMI cable included), optical input, or AUX-in.
The soundbar includes an OLED display readout to simplify settings and disappears when not in use. MagniFi Mini AX comes with a remote included, and will also work with most TV remotes out of the box.
The soundbar is Roku TV Ready, which certifies it will easily connect, setup and integrate with any Roku TV.
