Ricoh introduced this week its Pentax K-3 III 25.7 megapixel APS-C DSLR offering 4K video capture at 30p/24p frame rate or Full HD recording at 60p/30p/24p frame rates using H-264 digital compression.

The Pentax K-3 III is built around the new high resolution BSI-CMOS sensor also adds a new shutter mechanism for still shooting at up to 12 fps (11 with continuous autofocus) and diminishes viewfinder frame blackouts during burst shooting.

The company said the K-mount-based Pentax K-3 Mark III will be available in late April at a $1,999.95 suggested retail for the body only, with pre-orders beginning at 5pm EST April 6th from authorized Pentax dealers. The company will also offer two limited edition kits. A Black Premium Kit will pack a black version of the PENTAX K-3 Mark III body and a Silver Premium Kit featuring a Pentax K-3 Mark III Silver body. Both packages also include a battery grip, an exclusive leather strap and a spare battery. The Premium Kits will be available in late April at a $2,299.95 suggested retail price.

The Pentax K-3 III also includes a in-body stabilization system with 5.5EV of correction, and 3-axis shake reduction usable when shooting up to 4K video. A dedicated “panning” mode joins is included and joins with auto-detect panning to ensure slow, intentional pans without unwanted camera adjustment.

Also new in the camera is an SAFOX 13 AF module offering wider frame coverage along with 101 AF points, including 25 cross-type points. The camera also uses AI machine learning and continuous AF prediction algorithms to improve subject AF tracking performance.

For natural low-light shooting, the camera features top sensitivity of ISO 1600000. A newly developed, high-performance PRIME V imaging engine and new-generation accelerator unit further minimize noise, while retaining high-resolution reproduction at all sensitivities, the company said.
