The Peacock SVoD premium over-the-top (OTT) streaming service became the next in a line of premium streaming services to pass along a fee increase to subscribers.
The NBCUniversal Television and Streaming app service, which is owned by Comcast, officially announced Monday that it has raised its fees for the first time since the service began in 2020.
It follows close on the heels of Paramount+, which added a fee increase for its service at the end of last month.
The fees for new Peacock subscribers have now gone up by $1 or $2 a month depending on the selected service plan. The ad-supported plan goes up $1 to $5.99 per month, while the ad-free Peacock Premium Plus plan is now $2 more at $11.99 per month.

Existing subscribers will see the increases applied after Aug. 17th, 2023.
In a statement, the company said the price increase will allow it to continue to invest in strong programming and remain competitive in the marketplace.
The OTT channel has been sweetening its content pot lately, by providing access to key sporting events and programming, including the return of Big Ten Football this fall. The channel also presents NFL Sunday Night Football, an NFL Wild Card Playoff Game, Premier League, Notre Dame Football and WWE’s SummerSlam.
Peacock has added more than 80,000 hours of content since the service launch, including access to titles from Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, daily morning news shows from CNBC and MSNBC, next-day access to episodes of programs from the NBC Network and Bravo, and 24/7 streaming channels from Hallmark and Reelz.
The service also offers a number of online exclusive shows including “Poker Face,” “Mrs. Davis,” “The Continental,” “Bel-Air,” “Dr. Death,” “Based on a True Story” and “Bupkis”.
