Paramount+ Streaming Service To Launch March 4th
ViacomCBS said Tuesday that the rebranded and expanded CBS All Access premium Subscription Video on Demand (SVoD) streaming service to be called Paramount+, will go live in the United States and Latin America on March 4th.
The international rollout will continue in Nordic countries on March 25th, Australia in mid-2021 and Canada will get the expanded service later in the year, after seeing the brand change on March 4th.
Plans for Paramount+ were first announced last fall, following the merger of CBS and Viacom. Paramount+ will be ViacomCBS’ answer to Disney+, NBCUniversal’s Peacock, and WarnerMedia/AT&T’s HBO Max.
The new app will expand the CBS All Access platform, which had carried CBS local and national broadcast and streaming channels, on-demand current and legacy TV shows and movies and a handful of original shows for the app. Added to those will be Paramount’s movie library along with assets from MTV, BET, Comedy Central, VH1, and Nickelodeon, movies and shows from the extensive Paramount Pictures library.
The newly named Paramount+ will also offer a number of original series for the app including series “The Offer” based on The Godfather; Lioness, a spy drama starring Taylor Sheridan; docuseries The Real Criminal Minds and a reboot of classic VH1 popular music history series Behind the Music.
