Optoma introduced Monday its UHD55 “true 4K UHD home theater” DLP lamp-based front projector designed to deliver big-screen content with up to 3,600 lumens of peak brightness.

The Optoma UHD55 features a built-in Enhanced Gaming mode for very big-screen game play for watch parties and game nights, but its two HDMI 2.0 inputs don’t support all of the latest HDMI 2.1 gaming features like high frame rate (4K/120 Hz).

The projector is said to be bright enough to watch movies with the lights in addition to dark theater settings. The unit is listed with a 1,200,000:1 contrast ratio, and can handle High Dynamic Range (HDR) using the HDR10 and HLG profiles. Optoma lists color gamut coverage at an exceptional 97% of the DCI-P3 recommendation for professional movie theaters.

The company said the UHD55 handles a wide color gamut mode with shutter enabled, to enhance the view experience, the company said.

For gaming, the UHD55 features a built-in Enhanced Gaming Mode that puts the unit into a fast low-lag response time of 16ms in 4K at 60Hz and 4ms in 1080p at 240Hz.

Additionally, the UHD55 offers seamless integration into smart homes through support of Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice control platforms, the company said.
