OPPO Digital, the manufacturer of high-performance universal disc players, headphones, and mobile device technologies, said Monday that it is jumping into the wireless multi-room audio market with a new Sonica Wi-Fi Speaker, available through the company’s web site starting today.
Sonica, which is available at a $299 retail, is a Wi-Fi speaker offering high fidelity sound from a compact unit. The speaker is equipped to link to music sources via: Wi-Fi, AirPlay and Bluetooth. OPPO is providing a companion smartphone and tablet app that enables using and managing multiple speakers on the same network, the company said.
With the Sonica app, users can play one song on multiple Sonic speakers or stream different songs to different speakers positioned in various parts of the house.
