
Apple launched this week its 2022 Apple TV 4K set-top streaming adapter incorporating an A15 Bionic chip, and available in two configurations with 64GB and 128GB of storage for apps and games.
Pricing for the new 4K Apple TV adapters starts at $129, for the Apple TV 4K (Wi-Fi), with 64GB of storage; and $149 for the Apple TV 4K (Wi-Fi + Ethernet) including a Gigabit Ethernet port , faster networking and streaming, thread mesh networking protocol to connect more smart home accessories, and 128GB of storage.
The devices will be available beginning November 4th and Apple is including with purchase three-month free trials to the Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade services.
The more powerful A15 Bionic chip that drives the new devices is said to enable up to 50% faster performance than the previous generation device and up to 30% faster GPU performance, enabling smoother gameplay from cloud-based gaming apps.

The new 4K Apple TV also requires 30% less power than the previous model while eliminating the need for an internal cooling fan.
Apple has also added support for the HDR10+ high dynamic range (HDR) profile joining Dolby Vision and base HDR10. The adapter will also deliver 4K frame rates of up to 60p.
To connect to displays, the adapter has an HDMI 2.1 port supporting eARC/ARC. Other features include WiFi 6 with 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity. Support for new codecs like AV1 or VVC was not mentioned.
The included Siri-enabled remote control adds a USB-C input for charging in place of the previous Lightning port. Apple is also making the new remote available as a $59 accessory item to work with other generations of Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD devices.
