Mohu, manufacturer of innovative TV antenna solutions, is unveiling at this week’s CES 2017 in Las Vegas the AirWave wireless over-the-air (OTA) and over-the-top (OTT) device that integrates live, local broadcast TV with free streaming channels in one easy to use on-screen guide.
The Mohu AirWave combines OTA and OTT content from across popular streaming devices, including Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, Android, iOS and others.
Mohu said it will launch the AirWave at a $149.99 suggested retail price exclusively through Best Buy beginning in late Spring. It will be targeted at cord cutters looking for more cost-effective solutions to subscription cable, satellite and telco TV services.
“We are at the crest of the cord cutting revolution,” said Mark Buff, Mohu CEO. “Pay TV is broken. AirWave is our attempt to reinvent the TV viewing experience by offering consumers flexibility, convenience, and choice. With Free TV Everywhere, you can watch what you want, how you want, and with no monthly fees.”

Mohu said it created AirWave for anyone who is looking for complete access to free live broadcast networks, which are available through an OTA antenna, as well as the over-the-top streaming video content from services like Netflix, YouTube and Hulu.
At launch, AirWave will be compatible with most popular video streaming devices including: Amazon Fire TV and Stick; Apple TV (current generation); Chromecast; Roku’s entire lineup from Express to Ultra; iOS; Android and Web.
“In order to simplify the viewing process for consumers, we’ve created a product that not only gives open access to OTA content, but also integrates and organizes OTT streaming video through a seamless all-in-one interface,” said Buff.
AirWave wirelessly connects to the Mohu TV application (available for free across all compatible devices), which allows users to channel up and down through live broadcast content and free streaming content in a familiar, cable-like TV guide.
Key features of AirWave include:
- Combined live, local channels and streaming video in a cable-like program guide, offering program descriptions, ability to select favorite channels, and view up to 14 days of upcoming content
- Coax cable-free connectivity, allowing set-up anywhere in the home where there is an Internet connection.
- ClearPix Technology offering dynamic pixelation reduction that automatically adjusts to improve image reception of over-the-air broadcasts.
