Sound United’s high-performance audio equipment brand Marantz used the High End Show in Munich, Germany today to introduce its CD 60 high-performance CD player, engineered with advanced circuitry and premium internal components.
The Marantz CD 60 player will be available starting in June at a $999 suggested retail price.
The player features high quality industrial styling design and advanced build quality to deliver 2-channel digital musical output with warmth, richness, and
dimensionality, the company said.
The Marantz CD 60 is designed to pair with previously introduced Marantz amplifiers or as a stand-alone addition to any Hi-Fi system. The product is said to be “the perfect mate to the newly announced Model 40n integrated stereo amplifier, making them a tremendous power couple for those who cherish their CD collections as well as modern streaming conveniences.”
The CD Player provides simple setup and operation, for a 2-channel component.
“We sometimes forget that an entire generation of music lovers built sizable collections of beloved compact discs,” said Joel Sietsema, Marantz brand president. “Marantz was present at the dawn of CD technology with our original player, the CD 63. In addition to high-quality CD sound the CD 60 supports USB playback from a front panel USB-A port, enabling playback of a vast array of digital files such as MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV, FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF (up to 192-kHz/24bit), and DSD (up to 5.6-MHz) from a connected USB storage device.

The CD 60 features a new reference-class 24-bit D/A converter (up to 192kHz/24-bit and DSD 5.6MHz) for optimum musical fidelity with increased clarity across all frequency ranges.
Marantz said the “unique added benefit” of the CD 60 DAC, is the ability to choose between two filter options, with Filter 1 delivering a gentle roll-off while Filter 2 provides a sharper roll-off for more precise imaging. The CD 60’s premium DAC creates a sense of effortlessness that is apparent during focused listening sessions.
The player is also outfitted with the latest Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules (HDAM) in the analog output stage. The new HDAMs produce elevated response levels compared to off-the-shelf solutions found in other products, Marantz said.
The modules have been further optimized for the CD 60 to flow current more accurately leading to significantly lower distortion at high frequencies than its predecessor greater musicality and detail.
The CD 60 includes Marantz’ exclusive HDAM-SA2 high-performance headphone amp circuit with three gain settings (Low/Mid/High) to match most headphones. The headphone amplifier can also be switched to “off” when not in use, eliminating any unwanted interference.
