NFL playoff related TV promotions that LG recently initiated on its entry B8 series 4K OLED TVs are spreading up market to select C8 series as the pre-game frenzy for Super Bowl LIII gets underway.
The LG 2018 4K OLED C8 Series includes the 55-, 65- and 77-inch screen sizes and offers a stepped-up cosmetic design from the B8 models. These models add the advanced Alpha 9 processor (a more powerful chip than the Alpha 7 used in the B8 class) that runs LG’s most advanced video processing and upscaling systems. Picture quality on the C8 models and up will all have these same systems and a similar picture quality result. The primary differences in the step-up 4K OLED series are unit design and cosmetics.

LG is giving patient shoppers a limited-time price break in celebration of the big game as it prepares to transition in its 2019 4K OLED lines this spring.
All 2018 4K Ultra HD OLED TVs and LG’s top-performing 4K Super UHD LED-LCD TV models support high dynamic range (HDR) including the HDR10, Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) profiles. All 2018 OLED and Super UHD LED-LCD TVs also support built-in Dolby Atmos surround sound decoding.

LG 2018 Super UHD LED LCD TVs
Top-performing 4K Ultra HD LED-LCD TVs are offered in the company’s Super UHD lineup, and include the SK9500, SK9000, SK8500 and SK8000 series. All include the Alpha 7 processor, used in the B8 OLED line. The SK9500, SK9000 and SK8500 series also all feature LG’s Nano Cell technology to produce a wide color gamut and most include Full Array LED backlighting with local dimming for deep black levels and bright HDR highlights.
In addition, all Super UHD models include what LG calls “4K HDR Cinema” and “4K High Frame Rate (HFR)” technologies. All 2018 4K Ultra HD OLED TVs and 4K Super UHD LED-LCD TV models support high dynamic range (HDR) including the HDR10, Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) profiles.
All LG 4K LED-LCD TV models also feature In-Plane Switching (IPS) LCD panels for wide viewing angles, making them suitable for wall-hanging placements. Most Super UHD models also include TruMotion 240 motion smoothing circuitry (native 120 Hz frame rate).

2018 LG Main Stream UK 4K Ultra HD LED-LCD TVs
Stepping down into more mainstream (and more affordable) 4K LED-LCD TV models are the UK7700, UK7500, UK6500, UK6400 and UK6300. All feature edge-lit LED IPS LCD panels for wide viewing angles, with local dimming, and include Google Assistant technology and the latest webOS smart TV platform. Models step down to a TruMotion 120 (native 60 Hz refresh rate) motion smoothing technology, 8-bit panels with dithering and support only HDR10 and HLG HDR profiles (Dolby Vision not included.) They also omit built-in Dolby Atmos decoding, and have 2 HDMI 2.0a inputs (one with ARC) instead of four in the Super UHD models and above.
The UK7700 series includes Nano Cell and local dimming technology.
