LG said the partnership with U.K.-based Meridian will “raise the bar on acoustic performance, using natural and authentic sound derived from rigorous research and development.”
Plans include LG and Meridian collaborating on LG audio products, including sound bars and wireless speakers, the companies said.
Meridian has been long recognized as a leader in the development of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and advanced pyschoacoustical technologies, including the Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) system used for high-resolution audio streaming. Meridian is also credited with the development of the first digital active loudspeaker, and in 2012, the world’s first in-car 3D surround sound system.
LG promises more announcements related to the partnership at CES 2018 in Las Vegas, Jan. 9-12th.
