LG’s NanoCell 4K Ultra HD LED-LCD TV range for 2019 comprises fourteen AI-enabled models, available in sizes varying from 49 to 86 inches. This year, LG is dropping the use of the term “Super UHD TVs” for products carrying its NanoCell technology. NanoCell is “color-enhancing” technology that delivers wide color gamut benefits. It’s intended to deliver somewhat similar benefits to competitors’ quantum dot technologies.

LG is changing the name of its “Super UHD” LED LCD TVs to NanoCell TVs this year to reflect the company’s technology added within the panel. These sets also feature combination of technology including IPS panels to widen the angle of view.

Like the 2019 4K OLED models, LG’s NanoCell television employ AI ThinQ technology and webOS smart TV platforms for advanced voice powered interaction, smart home device control and a wide range of streaming options.

LG NanoCell TV Nano 9 Series models feature Full Array Local Dimming (Full Array Local Dimming Pro in the 9500 model) while Nano 8 Series models use Local Dimming.

All 2019 LG NanoCell TVs will support Apple AirPlay 2 and Apple HomeKit to stream video and audio content and connect to Apple’s smart home products. LG NanoCell TVs will also feature Amazon Alexa support to complement the Google Assistant which is already built-in.

All 2019 LG NanoCell TVs include the LG Magic Remote which enables access to both voice assistant platforms and control compatible smart home devices using just your voice.

LG Nano Cell TVs have the new a7 Gen 2 intelligent processor (except the SM8100 series) which uses deep learning technology to optimize the picture. AI is also utilized to enhance sound, enabling the set to provide a virtual 5.1 channel up-mix from 2-channel stereo sound.  These series also support HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision for an enhanced viewing experience.

Select NanoCell models will also include new HDMI 2.1 inputs, LG said.

Most of the 2019 LG NanoCell TV models will begin to appear in retail stores in April, although the aforementioned SM9070 models will street in May and June, respectively.
