LG Electronics USA said Thursday that it will be launching at CES 2022 next month a new lineup of audio products with new premium performance features, stylish designs and expanded sound experiences.
Highlighted among those products is premium LG Soundbar (model S95QR), which is an 9.1.5-channel Dolby Atmos-supporting soundbar with 810 watts of total power.
The LG S95QR includes five up-firing channels, one of which is billed as “the first center up-firing speaker”. Three of these upfiring drivers are positioned the main soundbar and two are placed atop a pair of included separate rear speakers.

The package will support both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X 360-degree surround sound, and will be IMAX Enhanced certified.
The configuration and features are said to enhance the overall sound while enlarging the soundstage for a more dynamic and realistic listening experience.
According to the LG launch statement the Q950 soundbar will be “the perfect choice for movie lovers looking to elevate their home cinema experience, the LG Soundbar’s center up-firing speaker delivers clear dialog and makes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X content extremely immersive. And with IMAX Enhanced, users can enjoy stunning three-dimensional audio when watching compatible content.”
LG said the S95QR will provide a boost in performance as a result of the new speaker drivers, speaker chambers and the included wireless subwoofer.
Larger woofers are said to deliver premium audio quality with deep, resonant bass.
Further for 2022, LG said it has upgraded the wireless rear speakers in its premium soundbar setup from four channels to six, with four front/side drivers to accompany the two up-firing drivers.
The rear speakers of LG Soundbar are designed to distribute sound evenly across a wide 135-degree space, providing more speaker placement and angle flexibility, which will be especially beneficial in smaller rooms.
The soundbar also includes a sensitive receiver that allows for more distance between the soundbar and accompanying subwoofer and rear speakers without sacrificing sound quality.
The company said that given a stable wireless connection, the LG S95QR will be able to eliminate drops or lags in audio output for distraction-free viewing and listening.
In addition, LG continues its partnership with sound engineers at Meridain Audio, to this year include Meridian Audio’s Horizon technology in Music Mode. This will enable the Q950R to up-mix two channel audio to 7.1-channels for a realistic musical surround sound experience.
LG will be making further audio and video entertainment product announcements during its pre-show virtual press event on Jan. 4th, the day before CES 2022.
