In advance of its CES 2023 showcase in Las Vegas next week, LG Display announced new advanced automotive display technologies that will be demonstrated in a special private West Hall booth, Jan. 5-8th.
As part of the tech presentation, the company said it will also reveal its “Thin Actuator Sound Solution”, designed to turn “many of an automobile’s interior surfaces into speakers, including the displays.”
The display panel technology development and manufacturing company revealed that it will present advanced new automotive displays and solutions under the slogan of “Advanced Mobility Lifestyle.”
LG Display will present “an exclusive booth for its automotive customers in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC),” with the intention of “actively expanding its automotive display business.”
LGD said it sees the automotive market as “a strong future growth engine for the company as well as a key contributor to its order-to-order business.”
LG Display’s showcase will feature several innovative automotive-targeted display solution including its P-OLED and Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon (LTPS) LCD, “which are specially engineered for the vehicles of the future,” the company said in a pre-show announcement.

“LG Display’s automotive P-OLED displays are lightweight and flexible to meet the driver’s needs without compromising premium picture quality, while the company’s LTPS LCD technology enables larger, higher-resolution displays,” the announcement said.
The company will also reveal its “Thin Actuator Sound Solution”, which the company defined as “a new technology designed to take the infotainment user experience to new heights.”
The LG Display film-type exciter technology allows the accuator device to vibrate off displays and materials inside the car body
“to enable rich, 3D immersive sound experiences.”
The technology is similar to accuator technology developed for LG OLED TV sets to turn the thin-panel screen into a vibrating “speaker” that emits sound appearing to come directly from on-screen objects.
