LG Electronics announced Thursday that its 2023 smart TVs are adding 4K UHD cloud gaming support for supported NVIDIA GeForce NOW streamed game titles in over 80 countries while also bringing the Boosteroid gaming service to webOS sets in over 60 countries.

The moves, which follow the additions of the Blacknut and Utomik cloud gaming services in 2022, will all benefit from LG’s Game Quick Card feature in webOS 2023 smart TV models, providing a direct link to the cloud gaming app from the TV home screen.

LG premium TVs, including many 2023 OLED models, also offer personalized game settings through the company’s Game Optimizer to quickly and easily help tune the display to the settings that provide the greatest competitive advantage.

LG pointed out that many of its OLED models now deliver ultra-smooth gameplay from the display’s 0.1 millisecond (gray-to-gray) response time and low input lag.

“LG 2023 TV users can now enjoy gaming on GeForce NOW at 4K 60fps with no additional downloads, installation or hardware required,” the announcement said. “GeForce Now is also currently available in Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) at 60fps on LG TVs (2020-2022 models) running webOS 5.0 and higher, while support for 4K gaming on GeForce NOW will be coming to select 2022 TV models at a later date.”

LG said games on the NVIDIA service that will benefit most from the new 4K UHD support include, Cyberpunk 2077, No Man’s Sky, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. These games appear more realistic and dynamic on the upgraded TVs, LG said.

Boosteroid, which at 4 million users is billed as the world’s largest independent cloud gaming provider, owners of LG TVs from 2021 to 2023 (webOS 6.0 and higher) in the U.S., Europe and parts of Latin America will have access to hundreds of popular PC video games, without the need of a console or set-top box.

LG said it plans to continue expanding its webOS ecosystem through further partnerships with gaming leaders. Current plans include the coming addition later this year of Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service.
