As Thanksgiving approaches, the national retailers are turning up the heat on their competitors, with many HDTVs priced lower than last week. For example, in addition to Best Buy’s excellent sale prices on two models, it has lowered its non-advertised prices on many HDTVs to match today’s Circuit City advertised prices.
The HD Guru has again scoured the NY area Sunday newspapers and websites and has listed a number of the best deals below. You can use these low prices at the stores advertised or in many cases, get an even better deal at the HD Guru’s shopping internet shopping link by entering the model you desire in the “Product Search†Box under the HD Guru’s “Check Prices†banner in the right column of this page. It will take you to the HD Guru internet shopping page, powered by Price Grabber. You may also use the prices listed below to negotiate with your local retailer, especially if they have a price match policy.
The HD Guru will run a Sunday Deals section periodically during the selling season (late August-January) to help readers get the hottest deal on a high definition televisions. Today’s bargains are from Sears, Best Buy, Circuit City (all three are national retailers), J&R Music World (JR) -www.jr.com (online ordering and NY City store) and Frys- www.frys.com (online ordering and stores in CA, TX,GA WA,IL,NV, IN,AZ,OR. Many of this weeks Frys deals include free shipping (check their website).
A down arrow “↓” indicates a price reduction from last week’s pricing (though it may be a from different dealer). Some of the best deals are held over from last week.

What about this week? I am having a bear of a time finding something at 50-52″ LCD.
Ben, that 42-inch Hitachi is a great deal — as is it’s 50-inch sister for under $1,000 at Best Buy.
However, it is NOT 1080p, it’s a marketing trick of Hitachi, they are 1080i. They are very nice TVs (I have the 50 inch version myself and love it) but they are not 1080p and if a salesperson told you that, they either don’t know or they fibbed.
Again, that’s not to say it isn’t a great TV or a great deal.
You guys forgot about Sears! Just purchased, online a Hitachi 42 in. HD1080P Plasma HDTV with 3 HDMI Inputs originally $1399.99….on sale for $776.99! Full 1080P for under $1000…had to get it.
I have been reading your posts and reviews for some time now, it is undeniable that you are the “guru” indeed!
I would like to know what do you have in your living room?
Can you give us your top picks, please break em out into plasma, LCD, and by size? It would be a great help to those of us who would like to take your advice and stop spending months researching which TV to buy.
just my thoughts, that and $2.00 will get you a cup of coffee!
Again Thank You for all of your work! also, Where can we donate to help the cause?

Hello,
Just wondering which plasma you would buy of the
following:?
1) Panasonic TH-50PZ700U (0r)
2) Samsung FP-T5084 (Or)
3) Panasonic TH-50PZ750U
Thanks for your advice.

Picked up a great promo offer from The Gramophone/Pioneer exposition in Birmingham, MI. Pioneer Elite PRO-110FD for $5500.00 out-the-door including delivery.
After set-up and viewing, it was worth every hard-earned dollar.
I chose this over a plasma or LCD and love every minute of it. Yes you have to have a darker room. So you have to invest money in curtains.

My screen is 106″ diag. How big is that plasma again?
Guru,
Could you please do an analysis of the Black Friday HDTV offers? For instance, Best Buy and Circuit City are both selling 42″ Panasonic plasmas with different models numbers for $999 and $899 respectively. Can you give advice on if these are good TVs and what the differences are?
Thanks!
Alex
A good measurement that you should add is a price/per inch. This would help break things down to which one is the cheapest. I know there are 1080p sets which will be more expensive but the price per inch will be a good measurement.
