I just took a vizio back (could not get the picture calibrated and it looked like a projector from 12 years ago on SD channels) and discovered that Coscto lowered the price on Sony’s Bravia S3000 series to 1399.00 — that’s 600 off Sony’s MSRP and I think a great value. They priced dropped in the few days it took me to realize how poor the Vizio performed. The Costco version is KDL40SL130, it’s the 720P.
Folks,
I have had a lot of luck with the Panasonic “commercial” plasmas. Calibration-wise “blacks” are outstanding & the opportunity to add various video cards to the monitor itself make for IDEA home installation. Just ask the client what their sources will be and go from there.
I recently purchased a Panasonic TH-50PZ700 plasma TV. I always heard that LCD screens were prone to “blurring”, while displaying fast moving images, but plasmas were “imune” from it. I have to say, that my TV does exhibit some quite noticeable and annoying blurring, even during fairly slow motion, or strobing. It’s worse when the picture is darker. My DVR is hooked up with a high quality HDMI cable.
Is there something wrong with my set?
Thanks.
Sounds like you may have a source or display problem. May I suggest you contact Panasonic’s conceirge service for free assistance.

Panasonic sells tuner-less, HDTV plasma panels, and the stands are also usually optional [not included]. Often these “industrial” panels are rated at higher quality than even their consumer line, but lack some of the conveniences, such as speakers [again optional], and a different lineup of inputs compared to the consumer line.
However, their inputs also allow for more specific resolutions, than just 480i/p, 720p, or 1080i/p.
You can read reviews on several sites (like Cnet.com) for these “monitor” (industrial) plasmas, which are sold at sites such as costco.com, target.com, plasma.com etc [consider a google search of the model #].
I meant the panel without the tuner. RSpi
Is it possible to purchase HD Plasma flat panels without a built in monitor? I can’t seem to find them and I think I can save money buying the panel only since I don’t need a tuner at the location I would like to install it.
