One of the industry’s best warranties on a 4K Ultra HDTV set is about to go away, giving you about three weeks to take advantage of it.

Hisense USA said Thursday that it is reverting back to its previous warranty coverage period of one year parts and labor for all new televisions sold in the United States of America and Puerto Rico, effective April 1, 2017.

Last year, the company offered a selection of primarily step-up 4K Ultra HDTVs carrying an industry-leading 4-year warranty, which included two years at purchase and an additional two years after registering the warranty with Hisense.

According to the company statement: “A review of consumer’ expectations revealed that a one-year warranty for parts and labor aligns well with the expectations of purchasers for new television sets and is in line with current industry standards.”

Hisense said it will continue to honor the warranty coverage periods per the warranty cards provided with the new TV for consumers who purchased their televisions prior to April 1, 2017.

“The company’s confidence in the quality of its new television products remains unchanged,” the company’s statement said. “Hisense invests 5 percent of the company’s revenue in R&D each year, and Hisense televisions undergo a significant number of tests to ensure the utmost level of quality control.”

Hisense’s H8C series televisions were some of the industry’s most popular products last year. This was the result of a very strong value resulting from a low average selling price for and HDR10-capable 4K Ultra HDTV, better-than-average HDR performance for an entry level 4K Ultra HDTV price point, and the 4-year warranty.
