HD Guru’s Black Friday 2011 HDTV Pricing Predictions
2011 continues to be a slow year for TV sales. Economic conditions, a poor rollout of 3D with a lack of programming, combined with confusing, ineffectively or un-demonstrated Smart TVs have led to high inventory levels (link). The holiday season is the last chance for retailers and set makers to improve their fiscal year.
HD Guru consulted its industry contacts, surveyed the best current deals and analyzed pricing trends to come up with our Black Friday price predictions.
This year all sizes are affected. The glut of sets has already produced the lowest prices of the year and we know the holidays will create leader models for stores to offer outstanding deals. The areas where we see the greatest price drops are in the 55-inch and above category.
That segment is more competitive than ever, with more new models from no-name brand companies exerting downward price pressure from the market leaders. Add in Vizio’s drop-in market position along with their left over 2010 models and you have a perfect mix for significant final closeouts.
Like last year, the online etailers will be leading the charge with hot deals and will follow Black Friday TV deals with Cyber Monday specials.
