FuboTV Continues To Expand Online Sports Wagering In 2 More States
Sports-centric live OTT TV streaming service fuboTV’s Fubo Gaming subsidiary this week announced that it had expanded its online wagering plans by adding arrangements with its fifth and sixth sportsbooks, this time in states of Arizona and Iowa, respectively.
Earlier this week the company announced an arrangement for online in-state wagering in Arizona, through a tie-up with the Ak-Chin Indian Community. The Community was recently awarded a license to operate a sportsbook at its existing casino and to use the forthcoming Fubo Sportsbook mobile app to engage online wagering inside the state of Arizona, after the Fubo Sportsbook goes live later this year.
Then on Tuesday, Fubo Gaming revealed that the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) had authorized offering advance deposit online sports wagering within the state of Iowa through a market access agreement with the Casino Queen organization.
In Arizona, the Ak-Chin Indian Community announced it was issued a special license to conduct sports betting via the mobile app. Subsequent to being awarded the license, the Ak-Chin Communinty had forged a partnership with Fubo Gaming to develop and operate a mobile app for online sports wagering.
In tandem with this, through the State’s newly-approved gaming compact, the Ak-Chin Indian Community was also authorized to develop and operate a sportsbook at its Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino & Resort.
The Ak-Chin Indian Community, which is located in north-western Pinal County, was established by presidential decree in 1912. To date, it serves approximately 1,100 Tribal members, who have been largely agrarian, maintaining some 15,000 acres of cumulative farmland.
“This is a tremendously exciting day for the entire Ak-Chin Indian Community,” stated Ak-Chin chairman Robert Miguel. “With this sports betting license and our strategic partnership with Fubo Sportsbook, we know we’ll be able to offer our customers the kind of premier entertainment experience they’ve come to expect from Ak-Chin, whether they visit our sportsbook in-person or online.”
The Ak-Chin arrangement was the fifth market-access partnership for the Fubo Gaming unit. Others include: Pennsylvania (via The Cordish Companies), New Jersey and Indiana (via Caesars Entertainment) and Iowa (via Casino Queen).
Arizona’s authorized sportsbooks are permitted to begin marketing activities and signing-up Arizona customers immediately. The first sports wagers can be placed on September 9, 2021. Pending regulatory approvals in various markets, Fubo Sportsbook is slated to launch in the fourth quarter of 2021.
“We are thrilled to partner with Ak-Chin for a market access agreement in Arizona,” stated Fubo Gaming president Scott Butera. “Our comprehensive sports entertainment experience will combine real-money wagering with fuboTV’s live sports offering for a seamless user experience enabling consumers to wager while they watch. Arizonans are passionate professional and collegiate sports fans who we believe will enjoy the market defining Fubo Sportsbook.”
Meanwhile, after launch, sports bettors in the state of Iowa will be able to use the Fubo Sportsbook app to engage in wagering on sporting events through the “Watching Now” feature, that integrates sports wagering and live streaming with the fuboTV live OTT streaming service.
Fubo Sportsbook will combine data from both the betting and streaming platforms. FuboTV will use its first-party user behavior data to learn consumers’ viewing preferences and recommend relevant bets to bring engaging new interactive experiences to watching sporting events through the sports channels on its streaming platform.
Scott Butera, president, Fubo Gaming, said, “As we enter the mobile sports betting market, we couldn’t be more excited to kick off this journey in Iowa. We thank the IRGC and Casino Queen for being the perfect partner in helping us cross the goal line and bring this sportsbook to the passionate sports fans of Iowa.”
He added: “We believe Fubo Sportsbook will provide an elevated sports entertainment experience that will bring increased interaction and engagement between sports viewing and betting. We are working with regulators in additional markets as we aim to truly innovate the gaming space.”
