You know the routine by now. Leave the house while everyone else is immersed in turkey, pie, football or whatever to stand on line like an idiot hoping to cop an HDTV at hundreds of dollars savings. Before you decide to put on your winter underwear and Depends for the long wait outside the store, HD Guru  compares Best Buy’s and Walmart’s Black Friday ads with Amazon’s on-line prices today to see if its worth the time and effort. The verdict is in: over 42% of the so called specials are either more or within 3 dollars of the Amazon price. Only 4 of the of HDTVs offered will save you $100 or more compared to Amazon’s on-line prices and this is calculated without factoring saving sales tax. It is always paid on in store purchases but it is not collected by most states. Read the list and check our Amazon links before running out the door. You’ll be glad you did. Samsung LN32C350 32-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) (Model # LN32C350D1DXZA) – $329.99 Amazon has it for the same price with free shipping! Don’t waste your time and gas.

Toshiba 55HT1U 55-inch 120Hz 1080p LCD HDTV – $969.99 This price is (wait for it) just $30 less than the current Best Buy price (and you should get BB price protection) Vann’s via Amazon is $130 more at present so we’ll call this one a deal.

Westinghouse LD-4255VX 42-Inch FHD 1080p LED HDTV, Black-$649.99. Best Buy will save you $50 over Amazon. However, we would like to point out Westinghouse is one of the least reliable HDTVs. According to the latest survey by Consumer Reports, Westinghouse sets are about three times more likely to need repairs than Panasonic, Sony, LG, Sharp and Sylvania.

Samsung LN40C500 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Black)$497.99 is two dollars cheaper than Target via Amazon (not including $33.46 for shipping)

Sony BRAVIA KDL46HX800 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D-Ready LED HDTV, Black$1499.99 at Best Buy. Another crappy deal. Don’t pay Best Buy’s high Black Friday prices. Go to the Amazon link and buy this Sony 3D set for two dollars less with free shipping

Sony BRAVIA KDL55HX800 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D-Ready LED HDTV, Black$1998.99 from Best Buy is still a dollar Higher than Amazon. No deal!

Coby TFTV1525 15-Inch Widescreen TFT LCD 720p HDTV/Monitor
– $99.99  Save $50 $18.71  off the Amazon price on this crappy, low contrast, small screen TV.

Dynex 24″ 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV (Model # DX-24E150A11) – $189.99 Best Buy’s house brand, hence no comparison pricing or data.

Insignia 42″ 720p Plasma HDTV (Model # NS-32P650A11) – $369.99 We took a look at this TV. Insignia is also a Best Buy (BB) house brand. We’ve seen regional players offering the LG 32LD450 32-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV for as little as $392 and consider it a better deal.

LG 32″ 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV (Model # 32LD400) – $379.99 a Best Buy derivative of the LG 32LD450 32-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV It is essentially the same TV except the BB model does not accept music over USB. Waiting in line will save you only $49 compared to the Amazon price (Video Audio Center via Amazon as of Nov.22).

Panasonic TC-P46C2 46-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV (Model # TC-P46C2) – $499.99 A decent deal, you’ll to save $100 off the Amazon price

Panasonic TC-P50U2 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV – $699.99 * This is a 5:00 AM doorbuster with very limited quantities, so you will need to get in line while everyone else is eating turkey and watching football to save $138 off of the current Audio Video Center via Amazon linked price.

Element 55″ LCD ELGLW551 1080p 120Hz HDTV is a Walmart exclusive available only on walmart.com starting 5am Friday.

Emerson 32″ LCD LC320EMI 720p 60 Hz is another Walmart exclusive. It’s a stripped down (i.e. only one HDMI input) model. At $198 it going to be the lowest priced 32″ available, and we are sure they will be scooped up in minutes.

LG 42″ 42LD400 1080P 60HZ LCD HDTV – $478.00. Derivative model of the LG 42LD450 42-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV its just $20 more at $498 with free shipping, 14 day price protection (see Amazon for details) and if you’re in the right state no sales tax.

Sansui 19″ HDLCD19WB 720P 60HZ LCD HDTV – $98.00 Sansui HDLCD1912 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Black This is the lowest price we’ve seen on any LCD TV this year. They got Amazon beat by almost $74. If you’re looking for a really small screen for under a hundred bucks, you’ve found it.
