Epson used last week’s CEDIA Expo to showcase a pair of new video projectors highlighted by its EpiqVision Ultra LS800 4K Ultra Short Throw laser-based model.

The 3LCD Epson LS800 carries a $3,499 suggested retail price for the projector only.

It is capable projecting up to a 150-inch screen size and offers an ultra short throw design, 3LCD microdisplay system with 10-bit HDR color, 4K pixel-shifted resolution, support for HDR10, up to 4,000 lumens of peak color and white brightness, more than 2,500,000:1 contrast ratio, built-in Yamaha 2.1 audio system, three HDMI 2.0 ports including 1 with ARC, 16.7ms input lag time for competitive gaming, built-in Android TV OS smart TV platform with Google Assistant voice control and a 2-year warranty.

The projector offers a small .16:1 throw ratio enabling the unit to be positioned very close to the screen and still cast a very large viewable image. The LS800 can be placed on an AV cabinet just 17.3-inches from a 100-inch screen, or 20.2-inches back from a 120-inch screen.

The Epson LS800 has a single blue laser light engine providing up to 20,000 hours of life expectancy and no need to replace bulbs.

The LS800 is available in a choice of black or white cabinet colors, and can be purchased in a bundle with a new Epson SilverFlex Ambient Light Rejecting Screen in 100- or 120-inch versions, designed to absorb up to 90% of ambient light for large bright images with rich colors and contrast even in relatively bright settings.

It can also be used with third party Ultra-Short-Throw screens, including motorized retractable versions.

Epson HC-2350 4K PRO-UHD 3-chip 3LCD Smart Gaming Projector

In other introductions, Epson announced the Home Cinema 2350 4K PRO-UHD 3-Chip 3LCD Smart Gaming Projector, which is available now at a $1,299 suggested retail.

The 3LCD projector uses Epson proprietary 4K PRO-UHD technology and supports high dynamic range (HDR), 1080p resolution with 120Hz refresh rate, and low input lag times under 20 milliseconds.

The Home Cinema 2350 outputs 2,800 lumens of peak color and white brightness.

The unit offers a compact design and has flexible lens shift capabilities for easy setup and portability at home or on the go.

The gaming projector has an all-in-one on-board sound solution including an integrated 10 Watt bass-reflex speaker plus Bluetooth wireless audio device support.

For easy setup, the HC-2350 Lens Shift Capability for Flexible Installation with a +/- 60% vertical lens shift for flexible installation on tables, bookshelves and ceilings.

The projector includes a built-in Android-TV OS with extensive streaming app support and Google Assistant voice control capability.

Other features include: 4K PRO-UHD processing for resolution enhancement; color and image processing; HDR10 and HLG HDR profile support; support for up to 120 fps video games at 1080p resolution or smooth 4K PRO-UHD HDR gaming performance at up to 60 Hz.
