In advance of the upcoming CEDIA Expo in Denver, Epson introduced the latest iteration of its popular ultra short throw projectors – the 4K EpiqVision Ultra LS650 Ultra Short Throw 3-Chip 3LCD Smart Streaming Laser Projector.
Epson said the EpiqVision Ultra LS650 features extremely bright and color-rich pixel-shifted 4K HDR resolution in screen sizes of up to 120-inches, for a broad range of entertainment options, including simultaneous multi viewing options.
Pricing and exact availability for the EqiqVision Ultra LS650 UST projector will be announced this fall, the company said.
The 3LCD UST projector has been optimized for dual movie/TV show watching and casual gaming functionality. It includes a built-in sound system developed by Yamaha, and an Android TV OS-based smart TV platform to stream favorite movies and TV programs from a wide library of popular apps.
The projector incorporates Epson’s proprietary 4K PRO-UHD 2 3-chip pixel-shifting LCD technology for sharp image clarity, and a laser light engine to produce up to 3,600 lumens of peak color and white brightness.
The unit’s ultra-short-throw design enables placing the projector a few inches from a wall to project a large bright image even in lit viewing environments when used with an optional Epson SilverFlex ambient-light-rejection screen available in 100- and 120-inch sizes.

“As the demand for ultra short-throw projectors continues to grow, Epson is expanding our bestselling lineup for big-screen entertainment to meet a wider range of viewing needs with the EpiqVision Ultra LS650 Smart Streaming Laser Projector,” stated Fernando Tamashiro, Epson America product manager. “While the Epson EpiqVision LS800 continues to hold its position as our top ultra short throw projector with the shortest throw ratio in our lineup, the new LS650 is our newest 4K PRO-UHD model, capable of supporting high content resolution and is intended to redefine traditional gaming and movie watching.”
The on-board Yamaha sound system produces 2.1-channels of virtual surround sound for immersive viewing experiences out of the box. The speakers are concealed behind a sleek new metal grill that maximizes sound transparency and minimizes distortion.
For those who prefer more robust surround sound home theater setups, the projector’s connections include an HDMI port with eARC support, to pass-through advanced sound formats (like Dolby Atmos and DTS formats) to a supporting AV receiver or similar component capable of decoding and driving multi-channel sound formats and speaker systems.
Equipped with Android TV smart streaming capabilities, the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS650 also makes it easy to access popular streaming channels, including Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, MAX, YouTube, and others, Epson noted.
The OS also supports Google Assistant voice control that allows users to stream live TV and easily search from among thousands of programs to watch.
