Epson unveiled Monday three compact laser projectors including a pair that build in the Android TV streaming OS for added convenience and access to thousands of movies and television programs.
Scheduled for deliveries in November, the newly announced models are all based on the company’s 3LCD microdisplay technology and are part of the Epson EpiqVision home entertainment series.
The diminutive new models include: the Mini EF11 ($799.99 suggested retail price) Full-HD laser projector without built-in streaming, the Mini EF12 ($999.99 suggested retail price) Streaming Laser Projector, and the EpiqVision Ultra LS300 ($1,999.99 for the projector alone, $2,999.99 with a 100-inch screen, or $3,999.99 for the projector with a 120-inch screen) ultra short-throw laser projector, which is also an all-in-one streaming model.
The EpiqVision EF12 and LS300 both feature built-in Android TV 9 operating systems to easily stream many of the leading over-the-top entertainment service apps without the need of an outboard source device.

The EpiqVision Mini EF11 is a Full-HD laser projector with high dynamic range (HDR) support that will accept a connection to an outboard streaming media player or gaming consoles to access OTT services.
The Epson EpiqVision Mini EF11 offers a compact box design that will cast up to a 150-inch projected image for a big-screen experience that tops almost any flat-panel television in sheer size. The Mini EF11 Laser Projector produces a 1920x1080p “Full-HD” picture with the added ability to produce some level of high dynamic range contrast and color enhancements.
For those who would rather not sacrifice an HDMI port for an external OTT player source and require a built-in sound system, the EpiqVision Mini EF12 embeds the Android TV 9 platform with Google Assistant and Chromecast support, for additional programming alternatives.

In addition, the EpiqVision EF12 builds in an enhanced speaker system designed with the assistance of Yamaha for soundbar-like qualities, the company said. The projector’s built-in Bluetooth connectivity will also enable using the projector as a BT music speaker when linked to a mobile device with a music library.
The EpiqVision Mini EF12 also features scene-based picture and color processing and focus correction, which helps to simplify setup and adjustment for its relation to the screen, for greater portability.
The Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS300 Smart Streaming Laser Projector outputs 3600 lumens of peak color and white brightness. It can be placed on a stand or tabletop just 19.7-inches from the projection screen or white wall surface for easy placement and enhanced ambient room light rejection.
The LS300 features three native Full-HD (1080p) LCD microdisplay chips and will accept signals with input resolution of up to 4096x2160p 4K, which is scaled to the level of the 3LCD microdisplay chips. The projector will also support the HLG and HDR10 HDR profiles, and has an expected dynamic laser light engine life of up to 20,000 hours with normal power consumption.
The LS300 supports up to the BT.709 standard color gamut.
The EpiqVision Ultra LS300 comes with built-in Android TV OS and a built-in Yamaha enhanced 2.1-channel sound system designed within a custom 3D Acoustic Enclosure, two high-end Yamaha drivers and a dedicated woofer. A virtual surround sound experience is produced through a discrete amplifier and Yamaha’s AudioEngine DSP technology.
It is equipped with 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, a USB-Type A and a USB-Type B port.
For the projector packages, Epson includes either a 100-inch or a 120-inch screen optimized to reflect light with maximum ambient room light rejection capability from a projection source placed immediately below and pointed up at the reflection surface. This helps to present the brightest image with best contrast ratio performance.
