In step with GoPro’s recent launch of its 2022 Hero 11 Black action cam line, DJI recently introduced its latest action camera in the Osmo Action 3.

Just prior to the Hero 11 Black unveiling, was the announcement of the DJI Osmo Action 3 camera, which boasts a 4K/120p video capture mode, longer-lasting battery and onboard charging via USB-C power cable.

Available in several configurations, the Osmo Action 3 Standard Combo retails for $329 and includes the Osmo Action 3 camera, one Osmo Action 3 Extreme Battery, the Osmo Action 3 Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame, the Osmo Action 3 Quick-Release Adapter Mount, and the Osmo Flat Adhesive Base.

The Osmo Action 3 Adventure Combo carries a $439 retail price and includes Osmo Action 3, three Osmo Action 3 Extreme Batteries, the Osmo Action 3 Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame, two Osmo Action 3 Quick-Release Adapter Mounts, one Osmo Flat Adhesive Base, and the Osmo Action 3 Multifunctional Battery Case.

The Osmo Action 3 camera is equipped with a 1/1.7-inch (7.4 x 5.6mm) sensor that will record 4K video at up to a full 120 frames per second (fps). It also comes equipped with electronic image stabilization, and a “D-Cinelike Color Mode” that will enable extracting accurate color information in post-production. D-Cinelike Color Mode is available in video, slow-motion, and timelapse modes.

For underwater photography enthusiasts, the Osmo Action 3 camera is waterproof at depths of up to 16 meters (52.5 feet) without the need of an additional housing.

The camera’s fixed lens is capable of a 155-degree field of view.

DJI said the electronic image stabilization package, called “RockSteady 3.0 technology,” reduces camera shake in all directions at frame rates up to 4K/120p. HorizonSteady further helps to eliminate camera shake while also correcting for horizon stabilization through full 360-degree rotations.

A new HorizonBalancing feature corrects horizon tilts within +/-45 degrees with 4K/60p video, and offers a middle ground between the RockSteady and HorizonSteady systems.

For enhanced power performance, the Osmo Action 3 uses a new 1,770mAh Extreme Battery capable of a claimed 160 minutes of recording time for Full HD 1080/30p footage. The battery can be charged quickly (80% in 18 minutes) via the built-in USB-C power charging. A 30-Watt charger will fully recharge the batter in 50 minutes, the company said.
