Denon introduced Tuesday the Denon PerL Pro and PerL “true wireless earbuds” billed as the Hi-Fi brand’s first earphones to use Masimo Adaptive Acoustic Technology (AAT) to measure faint otoacoustic emissions (OAEs).
The Masimo-owned company said these AAT-measured emissions are “produced by the inner ear in the presence of a range of tones played to assess each person’s unique response to sound.”
Once the OAEs are analyzed to determine how sensitive a person’s ears are to each frequency, a personal hearing profile is created in the Denon PerL Headphone app, using AI, the company said.
The individualized hearing profile can then be used to provide highly accurate levels of depth, detail, and clarity tuned to each user’s unique hearing “and elevated by Denon’s signature sound,” the company’s announcement said.

The Denon PerL will enable a high level of personalization for unique hearing profiles using the Denon Headphones app for iOS and Android. This provides the ability to customize features such as selective noise canceling (aka Social Mode) and on-earbud touch controls for play/pause, skip track, change volume etc.
The PerL Pro enhances the experience even further through the use of Qualcomm aptX Lossless technology, which delivers CD-quality sound through wireless transmission, and spatial audio with Dirac Virtuo, which creates a surround sound environment in a compact, comfortable Denon wireless earbud, the company said.
Denon said a limited number of PerL Pro ($349 suggested retail) and the PerL earbuds are available now through the Denon website while supplies last, before a further rollout through authorized Denon retailers begins later this year.
