Denon HomeCinema HS2 Sound Bar Hits Stores With HEOS, Alexa
Sound United delivered to retail this week the Denon HEOS HomeCinema HS2 sound bar, offering wireless multi-room music capability, Alexa voice control and full rich home theater surround sound.
The Denon HS2 (available now at a $799 suggested retail) also features a wireless subwoofer, high-quality music and home theater surround sound reproduction, and Alexa voice control and whole-home audio expandability.
Using a networked Amazon Alexa device, like an Echo speaker, the Denon HS2 sound bar enables access via voice control access to popular music streaming services (including Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, Tidal), volume level adjustment, song selection and other device commands. Alexa control using an Alexa far-field speaker is enabled through a HEOS Home Entertainment Skill.
The wireless subwoofer features dual 5 ¼-inch drivers, and is capable of being placed horizontally or vertically for the widest range of installation options. The HEOS HomeCinema HS2 sound bar incorporates two bi-amplified mid-woofers and two tweeters with four channels of Class D digital amplification, and a 400MHz floating point DSP engine. This helps to produce large, immersive sound from a low-profile enclosure.
For multi-room music distribution, the HEOS HomeCinema HS2 is optimized to work with other HEOS family products. The sound bar provides support for Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS decoding, for an immersive surround sound experience.
System integrators will find the HS2 is IP controllable and supports a selection of third-party control networks including Control4, Crestron, RTI, URC and ELAN.
The HEOS HomeCinema HS2’s multiple pre-set EQ modes, which in Movie Mode will enhance certain movie scenes, select a wider soundstage with even dispersion in Music Mode or lower the bass and boost voice EQ for clearer dialogue in Night Mode.
Users can also enjoy high-resolution audio playback when streaming tracks over a wireless network or playing directly from a USB device. Leveraging built-in Bluetooth and HEOS technology, users can effortlessly and wirelessly play music from their favorite music streaming services—in one room or many with other HEOS products—while controlling it all via the free HEOS app.
Setting up the HomeCinema HS2 is as easy as connecting the included optical or HDMI input and output to a TV and plugging in the wireless subwoofer. Users can control the sound bar via the included remote control with IR learning function, the TV’s remote control via HDMI ARC, satellite or cable box remote using the IR learning feature, and the HEOS app.
