Denon Electronics continued to advance its affordably priced S-Series Network A/V receiver line with introductions Tuesday of two updated 7.2-channel models that are fully 4K Ultra HD/high dynamic range (HDR)-compatible.

Models AVR-S720W ($479 suggested retail) and AVR-S920W ($579) will hit store shelves this month as replacements for last year’s AVR-S710W and AVR-S910W.

Both models will feature a full complement of HDMI 2.0a/HDCP 2.2-supporting inputs and outputs that will pass through the latest HDR metadata from connected 4K Ultra HD source devices, such as brand new Ultra HD Blu-ray players.

The HDMI connections will also support up to 4K/60Hz video with 4:4:4 chroma sub-sampling, 21:9 video, 3D, and up to BT.2020 color gamut, to be forward compatible with other possible content options.

They also ship with built-in support for Dolby Atmos object-based surround sound and will be getting a firmware update to support DTS:X object-based surround sound in August.
