This holiday season, Microsoft will be enabling xCloud gaming for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members through its Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles, the company revealed during its Gamescom 2021 Xbox stream Tuesday.
According to the announcement, with the addition, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will have access to more than 100 games streamed from the cloud.
“It’s a way for console gamers to play some of their favorite games as quickly as possible, jump into games with friends more easily, and try out Xbox Game Pass titles before installing them,” the company said in blog announcement of the capability.
Gamers will have the ability to play games before installing them, enabling discovering and playing high-quality games in the Xbox Game Pass library without investing in onboard storage space or waiting for installs to complete.

Games will be available for virtually instant multiplayer action, Microsoft said.
Xbox Gen 9-only games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator and The Medium will be available for Xbox One via the cloud – coming in the future, the company assured.
Cloud games will be identifiable inside Xbox Game Pass via a cloud icon, the company said.
To engage a title, Game Pass Ultimate members only need to click the “Play” button.
“We’ll begin testing the experience as part of our Xbox Insider program this fall, so that we can gather valuable feedback and improve the experience,” according to the announcement. Alerts with further details on rollouts and release timing will be posted on Xbox Wire.
Xbox xCloud Games (PCs) will be supported in up to 1080/60p resolution as has been the case with Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) across PCs, phones and tablets, Microsoft said.
The Xbox Game Pass library will be listing more information on games playable from the cloud on these consoles along with information on countries where the service is being supported.
The company has previously announced plans to bring to access the xCloud gaming services via a smart TV app, without the need of a console. Game Pass members would then be able to play xCloud games with an Xbox controller.
