Bose has introduced Smart Soundbar 600, positioned as a more affordable Dolby Atmos option than the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 or Sonos Beam.
The Bose Smart Soundbar 600, which will carry a $499 suggested retail price when it hits retail stores on Oct. 20th, is a step-down version of the the company’s Smart Soundbar 900 with many similar features.
The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 incorporates five drivers in total, including physical height drivers. This includes: two angled front drivers, a center channel and two upfiring transducers that reflect sound upward off the ceiling and down on the audience to create the illusion of sound from overhead objects.
For enhanced bass support the Soundbar 600 includes Bose QuietPort technology that helps bring deep, low-distortion bass performance over a wide volume range.
In addition to supporting Dolby Atmos 3D surround, Bose incorporates its own proprietary Bose TrueSpace technology to deliver room filling immersive audio from non-Atmos content. The company said this can be applied to incoming stereo or 5.1-channel sound to remix these soundtracks to produce sound “just as effectively with similar spaciousness.”
On-board connectivity options include eARC/ARC-supporting HDMI, optical input, Wi-Fi, Chromecast and Bluetooth.

The soundbar’s smart technologies include support for a choice of onboard Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice control. The Bose Voice4Video feature used with Alexa turns channel on the TV with a simple command and other functions. Bose also offers a Bose Music App to control the smart soundbar from a mobile device.
For easy connectivity with additional listening devices, the 600 soundbar also includes Bose SimpleSync to pair the soundbar with compatible Bose headphones or Bluetooth speakers.
The soundbar measures 2.2-inches tall, 4.1-inches deep, and 27-inches long. These dimensions should be compatible with most table top stand-mounted televisions, without interfering with the picture or remote control IR sensors.
