Best Buy Launches First Insignia 4K UHD Roku TVs
Best Buy said Thursday that it has launched its first three Insignia-branded 4K UHD Roku TV models.
The three models are available exclusively from BestBuy.com beginning today and will be in Best Buy stores nationwide starting early next month.
The Insignia 4K UHD Roku TVs are available in the 43-, 50- and 55-inch screen sizes for $399.99, $499.99 and $649.99, respectively. Each model is equipped with a quad-core processor and fast 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi receiver to easily and smoothly connect and stream from an in-home Wi-Fi network.

As with earlier Insignia Full HD Roku TVs, the new sets feature the Roku operating system (Roku OS) that is distinguished by its simple to use smart TV experience, offering a personalized home screen and access to more than 3,000 streaming channels, including 10+ streaming channels that offer 4K UHD content.
The feature set also includes the 4K Spotlight Channel that presents instant access to a curated selection of 4K entertainment from a variety of streaming services in one place. Users will discover 4K content in just a few clicks of the remote.
Also added is a 4K UHD category with more than 10 channels including Amazon Video, Netflix, PLEX, YouTube, UltraFlix and others within the Roku Channel Store.
The latest 4K UHD Insignia Roku TV models have a sleek bezel design and offer a number of features designed to enhance the 4K UHD viewing experience, Best Buy said. The sets will not support HDR or a wide color gamut, but include HDMI 2.0 inputs with HDCP 2.2 to connect to external source devices like Ultra HD Blu-ray players, or the forthcoming DirecTV 4K Channel, via the latest version of the Genie 4K-ready DVR or the mini Genie thin-client box for secondary room viewing, according to a Best Buy spokesperson.
Access is also provided for additional services offering 4K movies, TV shows and videos as they become available on the Roku platform in the future.
Other features in the 4K Roku sets include:
- Roku’s universal search feature that quickly locates the best pricing and availability of premium movies and TV shows across more than 25 top streaming channels, regardless of provider. Search results are ordered with the least expensive (or free) results listed first.
- The Roku Feed listing entertainment of interest to the viewer with notifications when programs become available to stream.
- Remote control operation using the intuitive Roku TV remote or via free Roku mobile apps for iOS and Android devices. Mobile device users can also cast video from Netflix and YouTube, as well as share personal video, photos and music, directly from a mobile device to the Roku TV.
In addition to Insignia, TCL has announced plans to offer a 4K Ultra HD Roku TV line this year.
